Article guide
When comparing equipment prices, cleaning-related expenses should be broken down into actual expenses, personnel time, and the impact of downtime. Converting less operating minutes directly into salary savings, or counting all unsold sales as losses, may change the ranking of plans. A more reliable approach is to first make the quantity and frequency corresponding to the same task and the same qualification requirements, and then discuss money.
The following compares two virtual cooking devices A and B, assuming that both have met the loading, quality and site requirements for the same menu and that cleaning procedures are also explained. A requires more manual processing, while B includes some automatic cleaning actions. All amounts, durations and repair events are calculation inputs and are not actual prices, failure rates or Fengzhida product data. The introduction of self-cleaning ovens in the source article suggests that cleaning labor deserves separate observation, but the labor and water saving claims are not the basis of this account. [1]
Business days, production batches and cleaning times are calculated separately.
Assuming it is open for three hundred days per year and performs four batches of the same tasks every day, it will produce one thousand two hundred batches per year. Daily cleaning is performed once every business day, a total of 300 times; an additional 50 periodic cleanings are scheduled. Periodic cleaning here is an additional task in addition to daily cleaning to avoid repeated billing for the same action on the same day. The actual frequency should be determined according to the applicable instructions and hygiene plan. It should not be fixed as once a day or once a week after seeing this set of numbers.
A's daily direct labor is fifteen minutes each time, and periodic cleaning is sixty minutes each time. The annual number of labor hours is three hundred times fifteen divided by sixty, plus fifty times sixty divided by sixty, which gives us one hundred and twenty-five hours. B is eight minutes and forty-five minutes respectively, and the annual labor force is forty plus thirty-seven point five, which is seventy-seven point five hours. The statistics include necessary preparation and finishing, and do not record the entire automatic running time as hand operations.
If you need to convert the cleaning labor per 100 batches, you should divide the annual labor by 1,200 and then multiply by 100: A will take about 10.42 hours, and B will take about 6.46 hours. Periodic cleaning is first calculated according to its own frequency, and then allocated to the denominator of the same production batch. Periodic maintenance cannot be multiplied by four just because there are four batches per day. After the number of batches changes, this allocation value will change, but the maintenance frequency may not change year-on-year.
First list the expenses excluding regular wages, and then list the labor occupation separately.
Suppose A's purchase and installation agreement total 20,000 yuan, and B's 26,000 yuan; both must be paid in one lump sum before starting use. The following amounts use the same price caliber, without taking into account financing, inflation, tax deductions and residual values. They are only examples of nominal expenditures over five years and are not complete investment valuations.
For daily cleaning consumables and water and electricity, A assumes that each time is 4 yuan and B is 6 yuan; additional periodic cleaning is 10 yuan and 8 yuan each time respectively. Therefore, A's annual income is three hundred times four plus fifty times ten, which is equal to one thousand seven hundred yuan; B's annual income is three hundred times six plus fifty times eight, which is equal to two thousand two hundred yuan. The single amount here already includes the attributable consumption and waste of the cleaning, and no additional scrapping costs for the same consumables will be added.
Assuming that there are additional regular exterior maintenance fees, A is 600 yuan per year and B is 900 yuan per year, excluding the internal periodic cleaning noted above. Therefore, when there is no additional maintenance, the cash expenditure in year A is 2,300 yuan and that in year B is 3,100 yuan. The so-called cash type is the payment method in this example; the actual purchase inventory, consumption and payment time are different, the inventory changes and account periods should be listed separately, and the three cannot be confused as expenditures on the same day.
Five-year chart puts maintenance scenarios back to the year they occurred
To show how irregular expenses are accounted for, assume that in the third year A pays another $1,800 for maintenance and B $1,200; in the fifth year, A pays $1,200 and $2,000 respectively. These events are only preset scenarios, have no probabilistic significance, and do not represent warranty periods or supplier commitments. When there is no real basis for repairs, the actual budget should be marked as unknown rather than filled with the amounts in this example.
Also check whether maintenance terms are included in the annual service fee. If a certain visit and parts are covered by paid services, the full amount cannot be recorded in the maintenance column; if only parts are free and transportation and labor are paid separately, only the actual part borne will be listed. Just because the equipment is still in use does not mean that the value must be zero at the end of five years. This example just does not include the residual value. This simplification cannot be written as an asset scrapping judgment.
| Occurrence period | A regular expenditure | A additional maintenance | A total | B regular expenses | B additional maintenance | Total B |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Purchase and install before activation | 20,000 yuan | 0 yuan | 20,000 yuan | 26,000 yuan | 0 yuan | 26,000 yuan |
| first year | 2300 yuan | 0 yuan | 2300 yuan | 3100 yuan | 0 yuan | 3100 yuan |
| second year | 2300 yuan | 0 yuan | 2300 yuan | 3100 yuan | 0 yuan | 3100 yuan |
| third year | 2300 yuan | 1800 yuan | 4100 yuan | 3100 yuan | 1200 yuan | 4300 yuan |
| fourth year | 2300 yuan | 0 yuan | 2300 yuan | 3100 yuan | 0 yuan | 3100 yuan |
| fifth year | 2300 yuan | 1200 yuan | 3500 yuan | 3100 yuan | 2000 yuan | 5100 yuan |
| total | 31,500 yuan | 3000 yuan | 34,500 yuan | 41,500 yuan | 3200 yuan | 44,700 yuan |
The table does not include the regular wages of daily employees, nor the cooking energy, ingredients and other operating expenses common to the two equipments. Therefore, the total number only represents the listed purchase, installation, cleaning and maintenance scope, and cannot be regarded as the entire cost of the store. If the cooking energy is different between candidates, the difference obtained after comparable measurements should be added, rather than directly calculated from the rated power.
In addition, using thirty yuan per hour as the assumed labor price, A's 125 hours per year corresponds to 3,750 yuan, and B's 77.5 hours corresponds to 2,325 yuan. The five-year labor occupation conversion is 18,750 yuan and 11,625 yuan respectively. Adding this to the table above as a resource value yields $53,250 versus $56,325, with B still $3,075 higher.
This does not prove that A is definitely worth buying. It only shows that under the current assumptions, B's smaller manual occupation is not enough to offset the difference in other expenses listed. If there is no change in employee wages and shifts, the labor conversion is not an actual reduction in cash; if there is indeed a reduction in additional overtime or outsourcing, it should be recorded in the cash account and avoid adding the same hour to the resource value again.
The impact of downtime and unknowns cannot be hidden in the total
Only when the cleaning occupation conflicts with real tasks will it have a business impact to be evaluated. Assume that an irreplaceable downtime leads to the cancellation of ten confirmed orders, and the contribution of each order after deducting avoidable costs is 12 yuan, then the contribution loss in this scenario is 120 yuan. It is not the sum of ten selling prices, nor should it be added to losses already included in the same cancellation event. This item is not added to the five-year table in this example because the number of shutdown occurrences is not set.
When there is no order or alternative route record, you can list "If this event occurs, how will the impact be calculated", but you cannot accumulate five years of losses out of thin air. Maintenance expenditures and downtime losses do not necessarily correspond one-to-one: some repairs are completed when the store is closed, and some failures affect delivery even though payment is not immediately made. Only by keeping the basis separately can we see where the uncertainty comes from.
Annual consumable costs, labor time, and maintenance events can be individually checked for sensitivity. For example, if only B's daily labor is changed from eight minutes to ten minutes, and other assumptions remain unchanged, the annual labor will increase by ten hours, and the five-year labor price will increase by 1,500 yuan. This is the arithmetic result of changing an input, not a worst-case prediction of the future. If an upper or lower limit is used, it should be stated that it comes from the contract, timing range or clear scenario. Unknown does not mean that you can fill in an interval at will.
Long-term economic analysis also involves time of occurrence, discounting, cost changes and end-of-period values. NIST's life cycle cost manual distinguishes initial investment, subsequent costs and residual value, and discusses present value conversion; its US federal project parameters cannot be directly used as the value of a local restaurant. [2] This article retains a simple nominal sum in order to make the calculation public and not pass it off as a completed financial decision.
When actually submitting a comparison, each input should point to the corresponding information: purchase and installation correspond to the contract scope, cleaning frequency corresponds to instructions and work schedules, working hours correspond to timing records, consumables correspond to receipt and price, and maintenance corresponds to applicable service terms. Candidates whose food hygiene, venue and task suitability are not satisfactory cannot be entered into the same ranking due to lower book value. The function of the five-year accounts is to clarify the differences and unknowns, rather than to draw conclusions about how to save money in any equipment manufacturing.
